Netflix has announced it is moving forward on a third season of its reboot of mystery documentary-themed “Unsolved Mysteries.” The reboot of the true crime series will return for a third batch of episodes in summer 2022. The series comes from the original creators Cosgrove/Meurer Productions and “Stranger Things” executive producer Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment. It will feature more unexplained disappearances, tragic events, and bizarre occurrences – the first two volumes have included stories such as a strange death in Oslo, tsunami spirits in Japan and UFOs in Massachusetts.

“The Unsolved Mysteries production team at Cosgrove/Meurer Productions couldn’t be more excited about developing volume 3 of our successful Netflix series,” said producer Dunn Meurer in a statement. “We’re currently in production on more intriguing mysteries and we look forward to our viewers’ help in solving the new cases next summer. Thank you to our Unsolved Mysteries fans who have made the series such a huge success.”

The original “Unsolved Mysteries” initially aired on NBC from 1987 to 1997. It then moved to CBS for two seasons (1997-99) and was rebooted by Lifetime for one season in 2001-02. In 2010, “Unsolved Mysteries” was brought back to life on Spike TV, where it stayed until 2010.
