This 94th Annual Academy Awards telecast, no doubt, will be remembered for Will Smith marching on stage to assault comedian Chris Rock after he made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. Shortly later, Smith, as predicted, won the Oscar for Best Leading Actor for “King Richard.”

“Love will make you do crazy things,” Smith tearfully said in his acceptance speech.

Overall, there were three winning milestones on this telecast, hosted by Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes. “CODA” became the first film historically to be produced by a streaming service (Apple TV+). Ariana DeBose became the first queer Black woman to win an acting award, taking home Best Supporting Actress for “West Side Story.” And Troy Kotsur of “CODA” became the first deaf man to win an Academy Award for acting.
