‘SNL’ Monologue: Jerrod Carmichael Describes That Will Smith-Chris Rock Oscars Incident Feels Like ‘Years Ago’

In his monologue on the April 2, 2022 edition of NBC’s “SNL” (“Saturday Night Live“), host Jerrod Carmichael did not want to talk about “it” but asked the audience if they wanted to talk about “it”. And, by “it,” Carmichael meant the incident involving Will Smith having slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars back on Mar. 27, 2022.

Carmichael seemed incredulous that the event had occurred just six days prior, since “it feels like it happened between Jamiroquai and 9/11.”

Although he was tired of talking about it on the “SNL” stage, Carmichael admitted “If this were Monday, you wouldn’t be able to get me to shut up about it.”

The host also mentioned his recent revelation that he’s gay, as stated in his newly-released HBO comedy special.
