‘Oscars’ Show Director Glenn Weiss Proposes Marriage to Girlfriend After His Emmy Win

While accepting the Emmy for outstanding directing for a variety special at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, Glenn Weiss, the director of the 90th Academy Awards, first honored his mother who had passed away just two weeks prior.

Then, Weiss addressed his girlfriend Jan in the audience, stating, “You wonder why I don’t call you my girlfriend… because I want to call you my wife.”

The moment not only shocked his girlfriend but the entire Emmy crowd as well, especially ‘SNL’s’ Leslie Jones.

After she accepted his proposal, Weiss proclaimed “Thank you to The Academy!” to which the crowd rejoiced.
