OWN Drama ‘Greenleaf’ to End With Season Five

Tennessee-set church drama “Greenleaf,” while will open season five at a undisclosed date in June, will be concluding at season end. Debuting on June 21, 2016, “Greenleaf” follows the unscrupulous world of the Greenleaf family with scandalous secrets and lies, their palatial family mansion compound, and their sprawling Memphis megachurch with predominantly African-American members. The series stars Lynn Whitfield, Keith David, Merle Dandridge, Kim Hawthorne, Desiree Ross, Lamman Rucker, Deborah Joy Winans, Tye White, Lovie Simone, Rick Fox and Greg Alan Williams.

The logline for season five: The titular family will attempt to maintain a united front in the face of losing their church to Bob Whitmore and Harmony and Hope Ministries, but secrets past and present create what could be fatal fractures in the family’s fragile foundation.

A total of 52 episodes of “Greenleaf” have aired heading into this now final season.
