QuickBooks is the best accounting software out there, but it is not free from errors. 

QuickBooks update error 12007 is one of the common errors from the 12xxx series. You can encounter this error when you attempt to download the payroll or the QuickBooks desktop updates.

You will encounter this error code when the QuickBooks desktop is not able to connect to the internet on your computer. It usually happens due to general internet connection failure, but there can also be other reasons behind this issue.

  • Your internet connection is not supported.
  • Your Internet Explorer is not set as your default browser and is not allowing QuickBooks to access the internet.
  • You are using an old version of QuickBooks desktop.
  • Your internet browser’s settings are inappropriate.
  • Any security software on your desktop or firewall is preventing the updates.

Troubleshooting methods to solve QuickBooks error 12007

Solution 1- Check your Internet Explorer configuration

  • First, click the gear icon that you will be able to see on the top right corner of Internet explorer and select internet options from the drop-down menu.
  • In the connection tab, tap on LAN settings.
  • Check mark the box corresponding to automatically detect settings and ensure that the servers are blank when updating QuickBooks.
  • Save changes and go to the advanced tab.
  • Go to SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 and check the box.
  • Uncheck the box corresponding publisher’s certificate option
  • Verify that TLS 1.2 option is unchecked and the box corresponding to TLS 1.1 is checked.

Solution 2- Check the security settings

You’ll need to make sure that your security settings are not blocking the updates, and that’s why you have to go through the settings of the anti-virus programs on your computer. If firewalls and other security programs are configured properly, this problem should not occur.

Solution 3- Reset QuickBooks update settings

You can try to reset the QuickBooks updates after restarting the computer. While doing that, make sure to launch the company file in a single-user mode. Download and install the latest update and see whether the issue is solved or not.

Solution 4- Check for the issues with Internet Explorer

  • First, press Windows + R on your keyboard, and in the box, write sfc/scannow. 
  • Click OK followed by following the prompts appearing on the screen for completing the file checker process.
  • Once the process is completed, restart your system and then see if the error is fixed or not. 

Solution 5- Perform a clean QuickBooks installation

  • Double click the QuickBooks_Clean_Install_Utility.exe file, followed by accepting the license agreement.
  • Click continue followed by choosing your QuickBooks desktop version.
  • Tap OK and follow the commands to install the application.

Solution 6- Set Internet Explorer as the default Browser

  • Open your Internet explorer and go to the tools menu.
  • Choose the internet options followed by clicking on the programs tab.
  • Select the make default option and then click on okay.
  • Close Internet explorer and check whether the issue is solved or not.

Solution 7- Updating QuickBooks to the latest release

If you are using an outside version of QuickBooks, this issue can happen, so you can try to update your QuickBooks to the latest version. Update your QuickBooks to the latest version and then see what happens.

Solution 8- Repair Internet Explorer’s installation issues

  • Close all the options running on your computer and open the run box by pressing Windows + R from the keyboard.
  • In the box occurring on your screen, type inetcpl.cpl and press okay.
  • Once you can see the internet option on your screen, go to the advanced tab.
  • Under the reset Internet explorer option, you will need to select the reset option twice.
  • Check mark the box corresponding delete personal settings option.
  • Tap on the close menu from the reset Internet explorer setting window.
  • Check whether the QuickBooks Error Code 12007 error is fixed or not.
