Reba McEntire to Star in ABC Soap from Marc Cherry

Proposed Drama Set in the Small Town of Oxblood, Kentucky

Reba McEntire will be returning to ABC in an untitled new drama from “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry. The proposed series is described as a Southern Gothic soap opera that is set in motion after a suspected act of terrorism happens at a Fourth of July parade in the small town of Oxblood, Kentucky. The FBI sends a cocky agent of Middle Eastern descent to investigate. He teams with the mercurial local sheriff, played by McEntire, to uncover secrets far darker than either could have ever imagined.

McEntire last appeared on ABC in the 2012-13 season in sitcom “Malibu Country,” while “Desperate Housewives” was a fixture on the alphabet network from 2004 to 2012.

In addition to writing, Cherry will serve as showrunner on the ABC Studios series, which he will executive produce with Sabrina Wind via their own Cherry-Wind Productions,
