Record Viewership for Season 3 of ‘Stranger Things’

Netflix Spins the Results in the First 4 Days of Streaming

Netflix, of course, does not release traditional audience viewership levels for its growing slate of original series. But according to the digital streamer, the third season of “Stranger Things” (all 8 episodes released on July 4 and through July 8) 40.7 million member accounts have watched at least part of “Stranger Things'” current season. (Disclaimer: Netflix counts a “view” as a member account having watched 70 percent of one episode of a series or 70 percent of a film.).

Comparably, this is the strongest turnout for any Netflix series (again according to the streamer). The second season of “Stranger Things” in 2017 scored an average 8.8 million viewers within the first three days of its release.

Also according to Netflix, 18.2 million member households have already finished the eight-episode season (so far). But, as usual, there is no total viewer tally.
