Saturday night belonged to TBS with coverage of the “NCAA Div. I Men’s Basketball Final Four”. In conjunction with “Team Stream” telecasts of each game on TNT and truTV, both college basketball games averaged 11.7 million viewers across the three Turner networks.

But the news was far from positive when comparing the games to previous Final Four telecasts on Turner. Villanova’s historic rout of Oklahoma in the early slot drew a total of 10.451 million viewers — 8.302 million on TBS, 1.664 million on TNT (Oklahoma) and 485,000 on truTV (Villanova). This is down 32 percent from the year-ago game on the same Turner triple-cast (15.307 million for Duke-Michigan State); down 10 percent from 2014 (11.654 million for UConn-Florida).

The late game — North Carolina vs. Syracuse — which drew a total of 12.939 million viewers including 10.152 million on TBS, 2.158 million on TNT (North Carolina) and 629,000 on truTV (Syracuse) saw even more percentage losses from the Wisconsin-Kentucky Final Four matchups on Turner in 2015 (down 43 percent from 22.626 million) and 2014 (down 20 percent from 16.25 million).
