‘Saturday Night Live’ Scores with Eddie Murphy

The Return of Eddie Murphy After a 35-Year Absence Resulted in the Highest Ratings for 'SNL' in Two and One Half Years

This weekend’s edition of “Saturday Night Live,” hosted by Eddie Murphy and featuring musical guest Lizzo, scored 9.961 million viewers and a 2.48 rating in adults 18-49, according to the “fast official ratings” from Nielsen. Comparably, this was the highest rated edition of “SNL” since May 13, 2017 in both measures (with host Melissa McCarthy; 2.74 rating in adults 18-49, 10.382 million viewers). And it bested the current season averages by 68 percent (9.961 million vs. 5.916 million) and 98 percent (2.48 rating vs. 1.25 rating), respectively.

Guest appearances alongside Murphy included Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Tracy Morgan, Alec Baldwin, Larry David, Maya Rudolph, Jason Sudeikis, Rachel Dratch and Fred Armisen.
