‘SNL’: MacGruber’s Friends Become Exasperated by His Coronavirus Thoughts

In three separate taped segments throughout the January 22, 2022 edition of NBC’s “SNL” (“Saturday Night Live“), Will Forte‘s classic MacGruber character returned to the sketch show. Continuing the parody of TV action figure MacGyver, he tries to defuse an explosive device with the help of his two friends (Kristen Wiig and Peacock “MacGruber” co-star Ryan Phillippe). At each subsequent segment, MacGruber evolved into an alt-right extremist and frustrated his buddies with his misinformed thoughts on the coronavirus.
