In the opening monologue of the January 22, 2022 edition of NBC’s “SNL” (“Saturday Night Live“), it was the return of former cast member Will Forte to the Studio 8H stage for the first time as host.
Forte noted that several fellow former cast members of his got a chance to host “SNL”: Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and Jason Sudeikis. In addition to those who’ve hosted, former “Weekend Update” anchor Seth Meyers and former staff writer John Mulaney; the latter hosting four times.
Producer Lorne Michaels appeared to inform Forte that he had meant to reach out to actor Willem Dafoe (who’s hosting on Jan. 29). But Forte only got the night’s hosting gig due to an “autocorrect” text by Michaels.
