‘SNL’: ‘Ted Cruz’ Avenges ‘Sesame Street’ Over COVID Vaccines in Cold Open

Parodying the U.S. senator from Texas Ted Cruz‘s recent critique of “Sesame Street‘s” Big Bird advising for young children to get vaccinated to protect themselves from COVID-19, it was time for “Cruz Street” on the fictional news outlet Newsmax for Kids during the cold open of the November 13, 2021 edition of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”

Joining Cruz (Aidy Bryant) was Georgia congress-member Marjorie Taylor Greene (Cecily Strong), podcaster Joe Rogan (Pete Davidson), “Sesame Street” characters — The Count
Aristotle Athari), Big Bird (Kyle Mooney), Bert & Ernie (Mikey Day & Alex Moffat), Oscar the Grouch (Chris Redd), and the newly-freed Britney Spears (Chloe Fineman).
