The Seattle Seahawks’ 31-24 win over the perennial powerhouse New England Patriots on “Sunday Night Football” not only gave NBC the overall Sunday night victory but also provided this NFL prime time showcase window its first increase this season from the corresponding year-ago game. With a 12.7 U.S. household rating, 22.513 million viewers and a 7.7 rating in adults 18-49, Seahawks-Patriots rose +1.3 household rating points, up +16 percent in viewership and +0.7 in adults 18-49 rating points from the 11/15/15 “SNF” Cardinals-Seahawks game (11.4 HH, 19.388 million viewers, 7.0 adults 18-49).
Earlier in the day, a thrilling Cowboys-Steelers game in the late afternoon slot on Fox for most of the country (49ers-Cardinals in select West Coast markets) earned the largest household rating and total audience for an NFL telecast this season to-date: an impressive 28.88 million viewers on average, with a 16.4/30 household rating/share, and 9.1/33 adults 18-49. The game even outdrew the 20 million who saw President-elect Donald Trump’s first television interview since winning the election on “60 Minutes” (CBS).
