Sunday Overnights: ‘American Idol’ Season-Ender Leads ABC to Victory

Ratings Breakdown:
The three-hour season finale of “American Idol” (which crowned the wrong winner, in my opinion), led ABC to Sunday overnight household victory. It averaged a 5.2 rating/9 share from 8-11 p.m. ET, which was nine percent below the year-ago season-ender on Monday, May 21, 2018.

Also concluding for the season last night was veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” on ABC (#2: 3.0/ 6 at 7 p.m.), “NCIS: Los Angeles” on CBS (#2: 3.8/ 7 at 10 p.m.), and The CW’s combination of “Supergirl” (#5: 0.8/ 1 at 8 p.m.) and the reboot of “Charmed” (#5: 0.5/ 1 at 9 p.m.). Next fall, “Supergirl” moves to Sunday at 9 p.m. out of upcoming “Batwoman,” and “Charmed” heads to the Friday at 8 p.m. (into “Dynasty”).

Also concluding was CBS limited drama “The Red Line” at an unimpressive 2.6/ 4 from 8-10 p.m.

Tops for the night was CBS granddaddy “60 Minutes” at a 6.9/13 in the household overnights in the Sunday 7 p.m. hour. And “Good Girls” on NBC, which will return in 2019-20 in midseason, built week-to-week by 20 percent with a 1.8/ 3 at 10 p.m.
