Sunday Overnights: CBS Wins; ‘American Idol’ Beats Competing ‘World of Dance’ on NBC

Ratings Breakdown:
“American Idol” on ABC (#2: 4.5 rating/8 share from 8-10 p.m.) bested NBC’s competing “World of Dance” (2.9/ 5) by 55 percent in the household overnights last night. Comparably, this was six percent below the 4.8/ 8 for “Idol” on the year-ago evening. Translation: this ABC version does not match “American Idol” at its low point on Fox, but it should be enough for ABC to win the evening in adults 18-49.

ABC lead-out “Shark Tank,” however, still is well below its former Friday night overnight levels, with a 2.7/ 5 in households at 10 p.m. But this was 50 percent above competing “Good Girls” on NBC (#3: 1.8/ 3). Tops in households at 10 p.m. was CBS’ older skewing (and on-the-fence) “Madam Secretary” at a 4.0/ 8.

Earlier in the evening, CBS was slightly above average from 7-10 p.m. with its line-up of granddaddy “60 Minutes” (#1: for the night: 7.6/14), already renewed “God Friended Me” (#1: 5.4/ 9) and “NCIS: Los Angeles” (#1: 5.9/10).

Fox, meanwhile, appears as follows:
