In series premiere news, ABC game show “The Final Straw”, hosted by Janelle James (“Abbott Elementary”), opened with 2.85 million viewers (#1) and a 0.4 rating/4 share in adults 18-49 in the Sunday 9 p.m. ET hour. While that is not necessarily the worst for a summer game show, it di slip significantly from the season premiere of lead-in “Celebrity Family Feud” (Viewers: #1 for the night: 4.62 million; A18-49: #2, 0.6/ 6 at 8 p.m.). Keep in mind that most new shows drop 10 to 20 percent in week two.

“The Final Straw” led into the season premiere of game show “The $100,000 Pyramid”, which scored 2.86 million viewers and a 0.3/ 3 in the demo (#1) at 10 p.m.

On CBS, ” Big Brother” topped the night in adults 18-49 (with 3.27 million viewers) in the Sunday 8 p.m. hour. As with every edition of “Big Brother”, there is always one (or two) houseguests who are impossible to stomach. I have my picks. Who are yours?

The only other original programming options was the debut of “Who Do You Think You Are?” on NBC (Viewers: #4, 1.26 million; A18-49: #4t at 8 p.m.) and The CW’s competing “Riverdale” (Viewers: #5, 236,000; A18-49: 4t, 0.1/ 1).
