Sunday Ratings: The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards Scores a Modest 7.4 Million Viewers on CBS

SUNDAY FAST AFFILIATE RATINGS

© by CBS News

Needless to say, this pales in comparison to the days when annual live Primetime Emmy Awards telecast was an attraction for over 20-million viewers. But, last night, the 73rd Emmy Awards telecast perked up 16 percent from the record low 6.37 million viewers who tuned in for the virtual telecast last year. It averaged 7.4 million viewers, according to the Nielsen time adjusted fast affiliate ratings, and was the award show’s largest audience since September 17, 2018. Even so, forget the CBS spin. This was another anemic showing for the Emmys.

On another note, The Emmy Awards were the top trending topic across social media platforms for over 13 hours on Sunday, driving over 43 billion potential impressions. Comparably, that was up by 33 percent from last year as well as 2019 (both at 32 billion potential impressions).
