Syfy Renews ‘The Expanse’ for Season Two

Thirteen New Episodes Ordered

Syfy has issued a second season pick-up to scripted drama “The Expanse,” with an order for 13 new episodes.  Debuting on Syfy on Dec. 14 and set 200 years in the future where humanity has colonized the Solar System, “The Expanse” follows a police detective (Thomas Jane) and a ship’s officer (Steven Strait) and his crew as they unravel a conspiracy that threatens peace across the System and the survival of humanity. Ten episodes are scheduled in this first season.

In the episode premiering next Tuesday, January 5 at 10  p.m., Jim Holden (Strait) and his crew make a deal with an unlikely ally (Chad Coleman). Meanwhile, Detective Miller’s (Jane) obsession over the missing Julie Mao (Florence Faivre) continues to grow. Shohreh Aghdashloo also stars as Chrisjen Avasarala, along with Dominique Tipper, Cas Anvar and Wes Chatham.
