Talks of a Reboot of Sitcom ‘Frasier’ Surface

Proposed Update is in the Early Stages at CBS Television Studios

Former NBC comedy “Frasier,” a spin-off of “Cheers” and an 11-season success story (both by the ratings and the critical accolades) could be the next series to be remade. A possible revival of the long-running sitcom, which ran from 1993 to 2004, is reported to be in the very early stages at CBS Television Studios with original star Kelsey Grammer (though it is not currently in development).

If “Frasier” does return, it is unclear what the premise would now be or which original cast members would return. John Mahoney, who played the father of Frasier (Grammer) and Niles (David Hyde Pierce) passed away in February.

“Frasier,” of course, centered on Dr. Frasier Crane (Grammer), who returns to his hometown of Seattle, Washington, following the end of his marriage and his life in Boston, Massachusetts, but his desire for a new bachelor lifestyle quickly turns when he takes in his police officer father after he gets shot in the line of duty during a robbery.
