The Best Movies to Watch For a Girl’s Night In

The sangria is flowing.

You’ve got all your girlfriends over. You’ve got the snacks. You want to relax and thankfully, CBD now comes in pill form.

The next step is to figure out what your movie line up should look like. Any woman knows there are some classic “chick flicks” that you just have to watch with your girls.

You know, those movies that your boyfriend or husband scoffs at? Let’s check out some classic chick flicks you’ve gotta watch for girl’s night.

“Pretty Woman”

You can’t go wrong by starting with this modern-day fairy tale. Julia Roberts plays a prostitute who lands a “date” that ultimately changes her life. This movie is excellent for a girl’s night because you’ve all seen it a thousand times, but that’s why it works. You can all sip, and chit chat with this movie going strong in the background.

“Girl’s Trip”

This is one of the more recent “chick flicks” to hit the scene, but it will undoubtedly be around for a long time because it’s absolutely hilarious! This movie is about a group of friends who have seemingly lost touch, or better yet, grown apart after college. They’ve all ventured out and gone their separate ways, but one friend’s success (or so they thought), brought them back together for a reunion.

“How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days”

This movie is super fun because it flips the aspect of “playing games”. In most films, we see men betting or making games out of pursuing a woman. However, this film flips all of those norms around and focuses on a writer who’s using a man as a pawn in one of her pieces, “How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days”. But, there’s a catch….the unsuspecting man has a bet of his own going for a job promotion if he can make her fall in love with him by a specific date. You and your girls will share more than a few laughs watching Annie (played by Kate Hudson) do everything to drive him away.

“Mean Girls”

This is an American teen comedy that came out in 2004. This film was written by Tina Fey, who states she drew some of her creative ideas from personal high school experiences, specifically, how cruel and mean other girls could be. You might think it’s a little “childish” for older women, which might be the case, but there are many women who enjoy watching “Mean Girls.” Maybe it has something to do with the fact that we all went through stuff like that in high school, especially if you’re the new kid.

“Bridesmaids”

It never fails, you’ve got one friend who is reaching the peak of their lives and another who is struggling. That’s basically a loose outline of “Bridesmaids.” Two best friends–– one who is getting married, while the other is in turmoil—who find themselves as bride and maid of honor respectively. Needless to say, everything falls apart, and these friends have to come to terms with what’s going on in their lives.

Bonus: This film has an all-star cast that is sure to rake in the laughs.

“Sex and The City”

Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda are a staple in “chick flicks”. What started as an HBO series turned into two feature films. There was so much drama surrounding Carrie and Big that they needed two movies to thoroughly flush out the series. You and your girls can watch the series or the film and be just as entertained. We’re all hopeless romantics that wanted to see Carrie and Big work it out.

“Monster-In-Law”

Ladies, we can all relate to the anxieties that are related to meeting your future in-laws, but what if they absolutely hate you for no reason? That’s what you’ll see in Monster in Law when a loner of sorts, Charlotte, becomes engaged to the son of a famed television star (think Oprah). You’ll see her figure out a way to beat her mother in law at her own game, until they finally get on the same page on her wedding day––only after they slap each other a few times! Spoiler, sorry!

“Romy & Michelle’s High School Reunion”

This story is excellent for you and the girls to vibe out to over mimosas or margaritas. You all can watch these two high school friends figure out how to seem more successful at their 10-year high school reunion. The funny thing about high school reunions is that everyone is trying to impress each other. These girls get so wrapped up in this mess that they ultimately almost lose their friendship. Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow are absolutely hilarious in this classic film––add it to the list!

Well, there it is ladies, a list of movies you and the girls can play for “Girl’s Night In”. Let the good times roll with these films running in the background!
