“Maude” on CBS aired its 100th episode in 1976. The “All in the Family” spin-off aired for six seasons, concluding on April 22, 1978…”The Early Show,” initially hosted by Bryant Gumbel and Jane Clayson and featuring Julie Chen at the news desk anchor, debuted on CBS in 1999. It ran until January 6, 2012 and was replaced by “CBS This Morning.”…Two short-lived series debuted on Fox in 2000: sitcom “Normal, Ohio” starring John Goodman and Joely Fisher and, stockbroker drama “The $treet” co-created by Darren Star. Each only ran for seven episodes before they were both canceled…One-hour documentary “Bizarre Foods of Asia” hosted by Andrew Zimmern premiered on Travel Channel in 2006. Its ratings success from multiple re-airings led to “Bizarre Foods” becoming a regular series the following year…The initial batch of Apple TV+ originals launched in 2019: dramas “The Morning Show” (starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Steve Carell and Emmy winner Billy Crudup), “See” (starring Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard), and “For All Mankind“, comedy “Dickinson” (starring Hailee Steinfeld) and animated “Peanuts” series “Snoopy in Space“.

Movies
“Cool Hand Luke”, starring Paul Newman, opened in U.S. theaters in 1967. Set in the early 1950s, it is based on Donn Pearce’s 1965 book of the same name…James Cameron’s “Titantic” had its first public screening at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 1997. From Wipekedia: Including revenue from the 2012 and 2017 reissues, “Titanic” earned $659.4 million in North America and $1.812 billion in other countries, for a worldwide total of $2.195 billion. It became the highest-grossing film of all time worldwide in 1998, and remained so for 12 years, until “Avator” in 2009, also written and directed by James Cameron, surpassed it in 2010.

Music
The Beatles album “Abbey Road” went No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard charts in 1969 and stayed there for 11 weeks.

Sports:
In 2001, the New York tabloids label New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter as “Mr. November” as he hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning of Game 4 of the World Series to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3, which took place just minutes after midnight at Bronx, NY’s Yankee Stadium as October 31 became November 1. Jeter was MLB’s first-ever batter to hit in the month of November.

Did You Know?
Plans were underway for a seventh season of “Maude,” with Maude (Bea Arthur) and Walter (Bill Macy) moving to Washington, D.C. for Maude to pursue a career in politics. But Arthur decided to leave the series and the political-themed storyline evolved into the pilot for proposed sitcom called “Mr. Dugan” with John Amos. After early backlash from African-American members of Congress following the pilot screening of “Mr. Dugan,” the series was scrapped and eventually reworked as “Hanging In.” Bill Macy was featured as a former professional football player turned university president, but “Hanging In” lasted only four episodes in the summer of 1979.
