Top Action Role Playing Games in 2021

It’s winter, and we’re in a pandemic, so you’re probably not leaving the house all too much. Sitting at home all day can be a little boring, so we look to games to add a bit of excitement into our day. What better way to do that than with a fast-paced action role-playing game (ARPG) or the collection on ILikeCheats. Here are the best ARPGs as of 2021.

Let’s take a look.

Path of Exile

Path of Exile (PoE) was released all the way back in October 2013 but still remains popular a whopping eight years later. You control your character from an overhead perspective, exploring the outdoors, entering caves and dungeons, and of course, battling monsters.

Why PoE is a Great ARPG

The flexibility of character design

PoE has been touted as having unrivaled character customization options. The customization comes in the form of Passive Skill Tree pathing (100s of options), Gem linkage, Currency Orbs, unique gear and items, Ascendancy Class Node choices, and much more. If none of this makes sense to you, then don’t worry. All you need to know is that you won’t be forced into cookie-cutter class builds like in many other RPG games. Your character is truly unique.

Depth of Content

There’s a ton of content in PoE, starting with the basic ten-act campaign, dungeons, and procedurally generated maps. You’ll never run out of action to get stuck into.

If you like Diablo or Final Fantasy, you’re sure to like PoE. If you’re ready to jump into PoE but want a little head start, you can buy PoE Exalted Orbs online at Eldorado.gg.

Titan Quest

This 2006 classic was recently revamped, and gamers love it! It’s currently listed among the top ARPGs on steam right now. It’s an isometric dungeon crawler set in the ancient lands of Greece, Egypt, and Asia. You create your character and then battle through legions of monsters, the undead, and beasts. You can also play the game on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.

What Makes Titan Quest a Great ARPG?

  • It’s exceptionally replayable through different classes. There are tons of classes to choose from, and you can only play one during one play session. To experience everything the classes have to offer, you have to keep playing. There are hundreds of hours of content from just playing the classes alone.
  • It feels very similar to Diablo 2, so if you liked D2, you’ll be sure to love Titan Quest.

Pagan Online

If you’re a MOBA fan, then Pagan Online is for you. Pagan Online is MOBA meets ARPG, so it’s a good option for fans of each genre who want to experience something a bit different. The game sports ten crazily different heroes that each has their own unique skills and weapons. It’s easy to level up, but the game’s main campaign is lengthy, so there’s more than enough content to keep you busy.

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Want something with stunning graphics, in-depth storylines, and tons of action? Try Witcher 3: Wild Hunt if you haven’t already. The game’s story is incredibly deep and intricate. You follow the main character Geralt, who is journeying through the world to find his adoptive daughter Ciri. Ciri is on the run from evil warlords. You meet tons of interesting characters along the way. If you haven’t played Witcher and you’re planning on doing so, we recommend checking out Gamecamp where you can find the best prices available.

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem

This is one of the newer games on the list, with a 2020 release date. Wolcen was extremely popular just after launch due to the game receiving tons of hype in the months running up to it. However, while players loved the hack-and-slash gameplay, it was just too buggy to play for most gamers. Well, we’re one year on now, and those bugs have been fixed. Not only have the bugs been fixed, but there’s a new content update; Wolcen: Bloodtrail, which was released in December 2020. It’s more of the more innovative ARPGs out there with incredibly stylish visuals and creative controls. If you want a boost to get you started, you can buy Wolcen gold online at competitive prices.

Torchlight II

Often compared to Diablo, Torchlight is a traditional ARPG with all the fast-paced action we love from the genre. You pick from one of four character classes and obliterate any enemies in your path. By doing so, you level up, fight new monsters, and get better gear. It’s a simple game, but the gameplay is incredibly rewarding. The visuals are stylistic and varied enough that the game doesn’t feel repetitive. One thing worth noting is that there’s barely any story in Torchlight II, so if that’s a deal breaker for you, you might not enjoy this game.
