Tuesday Final Nationals: ‘America’s Got Talent’ on NBC Has its Most-Watched Season Premiere in Six Years

NBC dominated Tuesday night as summer’s most-watched series since 2005, “America’s Got Talent” returned to begin its twelfth season, followed by the debut of reality competition “World of Dance”.

“America’s Got Talent,” (12.32 million) with new host Tyra Banks, drew its most-watched season premiere since May 30, 2011.

“World of Dance” (9.71 million, 2.4 rating/9 share among adults 18-49) scored the #1 premiere of 2017 on the broadcast networks in 18-49 and total viewers (excluding previews) and also the top regular-slot debut on the Big 4 networks in both measures since Premiere Week last fall (in 18-49 since “This Is Us,” 2.8 on Sept. 20, 2016, and in total viewers since “MacGyver,” 10.7 million on Sept. 23, 2016). It was also the top series debut for a summer alternative show on cable or broadcast in five years (since NBC’s “American Ninja Warrior,” 2.4 on May 21, 2012) and the most-watched summer alternative series debut across cable or broadcast in nine years (since ABC’s “Wipeout, June 24, 2008); also, was NBC’s most-watched summer series debut in nearly 10 years, since “The Singing Bee” on July 10, 2007 (13.3 million).
