Tuesday Ratings: The Milwaukee Bucks First NBA Title Since 1971 Ignites ABC

ABC: 7.70 million, NBC: 5.07, CBS: 2.77, Fox: 1.23, CW: 768,000

Adults 18-49:
ABC: 2.4 rating/17 share, NBC: 0.6/ 5, Fox: 0.3/ 3, CBS: 0.3/ 2, CW: 0.1/ 1

Game 6 of the NBA Finals (Milwaukee Bucks 105, Phoenix Suns 98 — The Bucks’ first NBA title since 1971) led ABC to an easy Tuesday victory, ensuring the network will clearly dominate this week. As always, fast affiliate results for any live sporting event are always approximate.

On NBC, “America’s Got Talent” was not negatively impacted, proving the theory that more viewers will tune into the broadcast networks if the right programming is offered. The perennial talent competition averaged 6.55 million viewers and a 0.8 rating/6 share in adults 18-49 — second in both categories — in the Tuesday 8-10 p.m. ET block. Lead-out NBC game show “Capital One College Bowl” also finished second in the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour, but it dipped to just 2.12 million viewers and a 0.4/ 3 in the demo.

On CBS, “Love Island” continues to underwhelm, last night with 1.60 million viewers (#3) and a 0.3/ 2 in adults 18-49 (#3). It aired out of a repeat of “NCIS”, which moves into the Monday 9 p.m. hour this fall, and into a repeat of “FBI: Most Wanted.”

In season-finale news, “Mental Samurai” on Fox closed the season (or perhaps series) with a mere 953,000 viewers (#4) and a 0.2/ 2 in the demo (#4). Lead-in “LEGO Masters” rated higher at 1.51 million viewers (#4) and a 0.4/ 3 in adults 18-49 (#3) at 8 p.m.

Also closing for the season was The CW’s “The Flash” at a diluted 721,000 viewers and a 0.2/ 1 in demo demo. It led into “Superman & Lois” at 816,000 and a 0.1/ 1 in adults 18-49. Both CW dramas finished fifth in their time periods.
