Upcoming “Legends of Tomorrow” on The CW to Anchor Thursday

Move of "The Vampire Diaries" to Friday Could Signal the End

The CW, as expected, has positioned upcoming “D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow” in the Thursday 8 p.m. hour. Based on the characters from DC Comics, it debuts on January 21 and it will give The CW three consecutive nights of superhero-themed dramas (following “The Flash” on Tuesday and “Arrow” on Wednesday). Current time period occupant “The Vampire Diaries,” which could be signing off this spring, will shift to the Friday 8 p.m. hour.

“Legends of Tomorrow,” which comes from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, will lead into the second season of “The 100.” And “The Originals,” currently airing out of “The Vampire Diaries” on Thursday will shift to Friday at 9 p.m. out of its parent series. Current Friday 9 p.m. occupant “Reign” will have its winter finale on January 22.

The CW’s Monday to Wednesday roster will remain intact until further notice.
