  1. Between The Voice and Dancing with the Stars which one of these competitions will move first? I think one of the two within the next couple of seasons need to move away from each other to maximize their numbers a bit more neither one is reaching their full potential because they’re shredding each other’s audiences. Wednesdays and Thursdays could use a highly viewed veteran live reality competition on those nights.

You can put Timeless right up there as the biggest bomb of the season but I still got Designated Survivor in front of it. I actually expected Timeless to fail on them so that’s no surprise to me. I think NBC should only boost female-skewing shows after The Voice from here on out because they work better with that audience. Leave the Sci-Fi shows to SyFy or something.

I have been displeased with some of the eliminations on DWTS the past 2-3 seasons too many bad early eliminations on this show got a lot of dead weight remaining on the show this season but I’m glad my top three favs are still in though in Laurie Hernandez and my two Detroit people Jana Kramer and Calvin Johnson. A lot to be happy about with the Lions right now 3-3 and rolling but a huge game this Sunday against the Washington Redskins. Stafford playing like a MVP right now. #DvE #GoLions

CBS was an interesting bag this week since this will be the last week where BBT will be able to boost the lineup. BBT was even lower this week so I’m kind of shocked Kevin Can Wait held up so well which could be good news when it airs on its own next week. Now I believe CBS is taking a chance throwing their rookies out there on their own but it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks. Man with a Plan may get sampled enough to boost the lineup next week. Let’s see how this duo plays out of Kevin James and Matt LeBlanc two big names of television’s past. 2 Broke Girls viewership is on the mediocre side but holding up well in the demo but Odd Couple which is in the toughest slot had no chance. Doesn’t look like Odd Couple will ever draw interest unfortunately. Scorpion should be on at 9pm but leading the pack at 10pm.

Gotham went back in front of Supergirl but still embarrassing that the Batman brand is drawing that low. Comic book stuff shouldn’t be on TV leave it in the movie theaters. Lucifer probably works well with anything in front of it.

Jane the Virgin should’ve gotten cancelled after season 1 this is why nobody knows what the hell The CW is or takes it seriously.

    • I love science fiction shows on broadcast. Some work and some don’t. I agree that Timeless doesn’t.

It would be for Dancing with the Stars to move over the Voice since the Voice has the Demo lead.

      • There should be variety on TV, I like it when a Sci-Fi show works on broadcast and is a hit sort of like Heroes was but Timeless is not going to help the genre.

I was thinking of DWTS moving first as well because of the demo. I think if it was on Thursdays since that night has gotten so wide open now it could do well. It already faces Monday Night Football so Thursday Night Football won’t be a problem for it.

        • Sad when a show way past its ratings prime can be the object of speculation to move it to shore up a night… [not criticizing you of course :)]

In the case of Heroes I’d say “sort of” quickly became “not at all”. 😉

    • Timeless: for some reason, TV executives have decided Shawn Ryan was a hit-maker, confusing the hype for reality and inflicting on us countless flops…

A good SF show would do wonders. The problem is that they can’t make one to save their network…

2 Broke Girls never did well and now is doing awful. The surrounding ruble makes it look a lot sturdier than it really is.

It’ll be interesting if Man With a Plan gets sampled and how it holds up. Matt LeBlanc looks like a much more interesting actor today than he used to be and may have some star appeal.

Comic-book shows: It’s easier in the movies: you get to pick what your reported box-office will be. Pesky Nielsens. Better move everything to Netflix where all will be massive hits… 😉

The fact Jane The Virgin was not only not canceled but that CW wasted its meager PR budgets to buy it awards is just professional misconduct.

  2. I’m sitting here waiting for ABC to pull Conviction and replace it with literally anything at this point. Probably not what they wanted in their Post Castle world.

I don’t believe Timeless will last past season 1 either.

Gotham and Lucifer are fairly compatible. Love Lucifer! Great writing.

Supergirl on the CW is a clear upgrade

    • Don’t be so glum… 😉 Scream Queens got renewed!! Anything with the right relationships can.

You make a good point about Castle. ABC wasted the slot for years for fear of having something doing worse than Castle and proved it could do it. That said, it was a still a huge waste of a good and rare lead-in.

What is baffling to me is how the executives can talk themselves into acting like they think those new shows will work. Just looking at the promos for Conviction, you cringed (at least I did…).

  3. Yikes!!!

BBT keeps sliding slowly. Not a good thing for CBS and the rest of the CBS lineup is not doing well at all.

I’ll play programmer like Hello Larry and suggest they may want to move Scorpion back where it was because it’s not working out at 10pm with the awful lead-in of The Odd Couple.

ABC’s Conviction and NBC’s Timeless are completely dead. Too bad their networks won’t notice for months…

FOX is completely dead too with Gotham and Lucifer (not that they didn’t know when they renewed them…)

Supergirl and Jane The Virgin are also DOA, which is also self-inflicted pain.

Hilarious to read CW’s spin that Jane got its second highest-rated outing ever… What is Mark Pedowitz thinking?!!!

  4. CBS’ Monday has been doing poorly for a long time. Long gone are the glory days of Two and a Half Men.

  5. Hey keepin’ it real there with your favorite DS.

Yeah she’s from Detroit she grew up in north Detroit in Oakland county in the Rochester Hills area up there. She actually grew up maybe 15-20 mins. away from the old Pontiac Silverdome and where the Pistons play now at Auburn Hills although the Pistons will probably go back to downtown in a couple of years at the new Red Wings Arena Little Caesars Arena. She is definitely a typical Detroit girl you probably never seen how Detroit girls are but without knowing anything about her I would’ve figured it out.

I don’t think her or Calvin are winning because I still got Laurie taking it home but both of them are doing well enough for one of them to at least make the finals or top 4 so I win either way as long as one of them make it to that final week of the season.

For me personally I don’t think anything will be worse for me than American Housewife or Good Place. Man with a Plan looks like a typical traditional sitcom right up my alley but I don’t think it will do too well in the long run. I am expecting a huge drop of course without BBT and on a tough TV night where the new shows are expected to carry the night.

    • From what I keep reading, new shows are expected to premiere to bad ratings and if they get so-so ratings they’re a huge hit… 🙁

      • That seems to be the stance out there right now and its sad that expectations have gotten this low so there’s no evolution for at all for television.

        • That’s part of the reason why it’s worth repeating the bar is absurdly low.

The standard executive discourse now is “it’s impossible for us to find a hit and through no fault of our own all our shows are doing poorly so the New Normal is shows that premiere poorly and drop precipitously and anything doing better than that is a huge hit” (but couched in MBA-ese of course)…
