Wednesday Overnights: CBS Veteran ‘Survivor’ Tops Evening

NBC 10 p.m. ET Special 'Bublé' a Bust

Wednesday, March 20, 2019

Household Rating/Share
CBS: 4.1/ 7, NBC: 3.6/ 6, Fox: 3.0/ 5, ABC: 2.9/ 5, CW: 0.6/ 1

Percent Change from the Year-Ago Evening:
CBS: – 2, ABC: – 9, NBC, Fox and CW: -14 each

Ratings Breakdown:
Two episodes of CBS’ veteran “Survivor” topped the evening, with an average 4.5 rating/6 share in the household overnights from 8-10 p.m. But its advantage over a two-hour clips edition of competing “The Voice” on NBC (4.2/ 7) was only seven percent. And, let’s face it…the Edge of Distinction twist this season is a liability. If you are voted off you should be voted off, not be featured for a few minutes in each episode on another island.

In time period premiere news, CBS’ sophomore “SEAL Team” (3.4/ 6) won the Wednesday 10 p.m. hour, besting competing “Whiskey Cavalier” on ABC (2.9/ 6) and musical special ““Bublé” (2.4/ 5) by 17 percent and 42 percent, respectively. But “SEAL Team” was no stronger than deteriorating year-ago time period occupant “Criminal Minds.”

Elsewhere, ABC had nothing unusual to report with its midweek 8-10 p.m. sitcom combination of “The Goldbergs” (#4: 3.2/ 6), recent entry “Schooled” (#4: 2.6/ 4), “Modern Family” (#3: 3.4/ 6) and “Single Parents” (#4: 2.3/ 4).
