Ratings Breakdown:
CBS’ veteran “Survivor” topped the evening with a 4.9 rating/9 share in the household overnights at 8 p.m., and that gave a boost to the season premiere of lead-out “The Amazing Race.” In this season featuring former teams from “Survivor,” “Big Brother” and “The Amazing Race,” the multi Emmy award-winning reality competition returned with a dominant 3.6/ 6 in households at 9 p.m. Comparably, this was a marked improvement from recent Wednesday 9 p.m. time period occupant “The World’s Best.”

Keep in mind that NBC’s Chicago-set drama trio was in repeats last night.

“The Amazing Race” led into recently relocated drama “SEAL Team” at a first-place 3.1/ 6 at 10 p.m., which bested ABC’s competing “Whiskey Cavalier” (#3: 2.6/ 5) by 19 percent. Sad, isn’t it, that a series can lead a time period with just a 3.1 rating in the household overnights?

Elsewhere, Fox was at typical Wednesday overnight levels with its pairing of dramas “Empire” (#2: 3.3/ 6 at 8 p.m.) and “Star” (#3: 2.6/ 5 at 9 p.m.). The CW featured social media magnet “Riverdale” (#5: 0.7/ a at 8 p.m.) and soon-to-conclude “Jane the Virgin” (#5: 0.6/ 1 at 9 p.m.). And ABC’s 8-10 p.m. sitcom rotation was in repeats as follows:
