Chris Christie Labels Attacking Caller a ‘Bum’ and a ‘Communist’ on Sports Radio

New Jersey governor and former presidential nominee Chris Christie was the guest co-host in the afternoon shift on New York’s popular sports radio station WFAN on July 10.

Frequent WFAN caller Mike from Montclair — who informed the behind-the-scenes screener he wanted to discuss Yankees rookie slugger Aaron Judge — actually chose to chime in to suggest the “bully” Christie put his “fat ass” in a car and head to a beach that’s open to all his constituents. This is a reference to a recent scandal where Christie and his family spent the day at a beach that was closed to the public due to New Jersey’s government shutdown.

Christie sarcastically replied he loves “getting calls from communists in Montclair” and that the caller was a “bum.” He also added that he’ll “stop polluting the airwaves with a [caller] like that.”

Christie, whose term as New Jersey Governor is nearing its end, is being considered one of the possible personalities to replace Mike Francesa, who’ll retire at the end of 2017 after being WFAN’s afternoon host since 1989. In recent years, Christie had made several fill-in co-hosting spots on the station’s morning sports show “Boomer and Carton.”
