Katie Couric Begins One-Week Stint in Return as ‘Today’ Co-Host on NBC

Katie Couric returns to co-host the “Today” show with Matt Lauer for the week of Jan. 2-6, filling in for Savannah Guthrie who’s on currently maternity leave.

Couric gained most notoriety as “Today” show anchor with Bryant Gumbel from 1991-96 and with Lauer from 1997-2006. Her presence along with the show’s move to the Rockefeller Plaza street-front studio in 1994 propelled “Today” to top the morning ratings for over two decades.
