Television Series Arriving on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon in October 2016

New original and off-network series titles for the month of October will appear on the streaming video services Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime.

Hugh Laurie, mostly known to American TV audiences as Dr. Gregory House from ‘House’, returns to the medical field for his next series for Hulu, “Chance” which will air an episode each Wednesday starting Oct. 19. Laurie plays Dr. Eldon Chance, a San Francisco-based forensic neuropsychiatrist. The series also stars Diane Farr (“NUMB3RS”), Lisa Gay Hamilton (“The Practice”), Gretchen Mol (“Boardwalk Empire”), Paul Adelstein (“Prison Break”), Ethan Suplee (“My Name is Earl”), and Clarke Peters (“The Wire”).

David E. Kelley, the creator of such legal hits as “Ally McBeal,” “The Practice,” and “Boston Legal”, debuts his new legal drama on Amazon entitled “Goliath” (Oct. 14). Billy Bob Thornton, who made a splash on the first season of ‘Fargo’, stars as a disgraced lawyer who ventures on a road to redemption after agreeing to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the biggest client of his former law firm.

Also on Amazon, the new series “Good Girls Revolt” (Oct. 28) is inspired by the landmark sexual discrimination cases chronicled in Lynn Povich’s book, ‘The Good Girls Revolt’, about a group of young female researchers, at “News of the Week,” who simply ask to be treated fairly in the year 1969.

Netflix’s new comedy “Haters Back Off” (Oct. 14) stars Colleen Ballinger as Miranda Sings, a self-absorbed, untalented, teenager-ish YouTube singer. The series also stars Angela Kinsey (“The Office”) and Steve Little (“Eastbound and Down”).

The fifth season of hit FX anthology “American Horror Story” from 2015 entitled “American Horror Story: Hotel” arrives on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon on Oct. 4. Lady Gaga, in her first television role, won a Golden Globe award for her portrayal as Elizabeth Johnson / The Countess.
