NBC was Saturday night’s top network in total viewers (4.28 million), adults 18-49 (0.8 rating/3 share) and adults 25-54 (1.2/4).
For the 2016 U.S. Presidential races, a combined 5.6 million viewers watched Super Saturday primary and caucus results coverage on the three cable news networks in prime time. With an average of 2.67 million viewers from 8-11 p.m., Fox News Channel drew the most eyeballs over CNN (1.84 million) and MSNBC (1.09 million). In the advertiser-coveted adults 25-54 demographic for news, however, CNN led the cable news networks with 644,000; FNC had 567,000 and MSNBC 250,000.
Each of these three networks saw more than +100 percent growth from their regular Saturday night averages. MSNBC grew the most in viewers, increasing +158 percent, while FNC was up the most in adults 25-54 (+179 percent).
Also on cable, with an average of 3.174 million total viewers (and a 1.94 household rating), ESPN’s telecast of “North Carolina at Duke” was the most-watched college basketball game of the 2015-16 season to-date across all networks (including broadcast).
