NBC was the most-watched network on Saturday night with an average of 4.28 million total viewers. Coverage of college basketball’s conference tournament finals — primarily the ACC final between Virginia and North Carolina — gave ESPN a prime time victory among adults 18-49 (0.9 rating) and adults 18-34 (0.8 rating).

The “2016 Kids’ Choice Awards” combined to draw 4.426 million total viewers and 1.275 million adults 18-49 across five Viacom-owned networks: Nickelodeon (3.321 million viewers/910,000 adults 18-49), TeenNick (363,000/113,000), Nicktoons (314,000/96,000), TV Land (241,000/87,000) and CMT (187,000/69,000). This year’s event was hosted by country superstar Blake Shelton. Compared to the four-network telecast of Kids Choice Awards from Mar. 28, 2015 (it previously did not air on CMT), the event was off by just one percent in total viewers (4.426 million vs. 4.491 million) and about even among adults 18-49 (1.275 million vs. 1.278 million), according to Nielsen. The 2016 KCAs were down 12 percent in total viewers from the Mar. 29, 2014 edition (5.033 million) which had solely aired on Nickelodeon.

Leading out of the Kids’ Choice Awards, Nickelodeon debuted their new series “School of Rock” based on the 2003 Jack Black film of the same name. It drew 2.377 million viewers and a 1.67 rating among teens 12-17 — down 8 percent in each total viewers and teens 12-17 rating from the year-ago KCA lead-out “Harvey Beaks” (2.578 million viewers, 1.82 teens 12-17 rating), though it should be noted the “Harvey Beaks” telecast was only 12 minutes long; “School of Rock” lasted one half-hour.
