‘SNL’: The NBA on TNT Reports on Replacement Players

In a skit on the January 15, 2022 edition of NBC’s “SNL” (“Saturday Night Live“), the “NBA on TNT” studio crew of Ernie Johnson (Alex Moffat), Kenny Smith (Chris Redd), and Charles Barkley (Kenan Thompson) were joined by famous Chinese basketball legend and former Houston Rockets center Yao Ming (Bowen Yang). They reported on the constant roster issues plaguing NBA teams today with players spending time away from the court due to testing positive of the coronavirus. Filling in for some of those professional players are an equipment manager and a fan from the crowd. That fan, named Alicia Miller (host Ariana Debose), described playing on an NBA court as “the craziest girls’ night ever.”
