‘SNL’: President Biden Blames Spider-Man for Spread of Omicron Variant

In the cold open on the January 15, 2022 edition of NBC’s “SNL” (“Saturday Night Live“), President Joe Biden (James Austin Johnson) held a press conference about an update on the COVID-19 virus.

He pointed to one major factor as to why the Omicron variant has led to the vast increases of positive coronavirus cases: “Spider-Man: No Way Home“. The movie has, by far, grossed the most earnings at the theatrical box office since the start of the pandemic. To date (as of Jan. 16, 2022), “Spider-Man: No Way Home” — a movie Biden “couldn’t get tickets to” — has grossed nearly $1.6 billion worldwide, including the $683 million from North America.
