Ratings Breakdown:
The second season of “American Idol” on ABC (and 17th overall) opened with a respectable 5.4 rating/9 share in the households from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, that was a hefty 74 percent over the time period premiere of the competing “World of Dance” on NBC (3.1/ 5), and it was just 11 percent below its season one debut on ABC on March 11, 2018 (6.3/10). While “American Idol” on ABC is certainly not the powerhouse it was during its heyday on Fox, it still remains an option in primetime.

Also premiering for the season was NBC dramedy “Good Girls,” which finished a distant third in the 10 p.m. hour with a 2.1/ 4 in households. Comparably, that trailed “Madam Secretary” on CBS (#1: 3.9/ 7) and “Shark Tank” on ABC (#2: 2.9/ 5) by 46 percent and 28 percent, respectively.

Elswehere, CBS granddaddy “60 Minutes” topped this first Sunday in March in households with a 7.5/13. That led into a comfortable 4.8/ 8 for already renewed “God Friended” me at 8 p.m., followed by “NCIS: Los Angeles” at a 4.9/ 8 (#2) at 9 p.m.

Veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” kicked-off the night for ABC with a second-place 3.9/ 7 from 7-8 p.m., and Fox and The CW were at typical Sunday overnight levels as follows:
