-Percent Change from the Year-Ago Evening:

ABC: +71, NBC: +40, Fox: +10. CBS: – 5

Ratings Breakdown:
It was a clean sweep for CBS in the household overnights in each of the eight half-hours care of its older-skewing combination of “60 Minutes” (#1 for the night: 6.6 rating/12 share at 7 p.m.), recent entry “Instinct” (5.0/ 8 at 8 p.m.), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (4.9/ 8 at 9 p.m.) and “Madam Secretary” (4.1/ 7 at 10 p.m.). But ABC is the network to beat in adults 18-49 (and all the key demos) thanks to “American Idol,” which was consistent at a 4.7/ 8 from 8-10 p.m. Given the hefty cost, the question remains if “Idol” is worth the investment.

Next on ABC was recent drama entry “Deception,” which dipped to a distant second-place 2.1/ 4 in the household overnights at 10 p.m. and has no chance of a second season. Earlier in the evening on the alphabet net was veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at a second-place 3.1/ 6 in the 7 p.m. hour.

On NBC, “Little Big Shots” remains the net’s top-rated Sunday occupant, with a 3.7/ 6 (#3) from 8-9 p.m. While that was 42 percent above lead-in “Dateline” (#3: 2.6/ 5 at 7 p.m.), it was also 27 percent below the year-ago evening (5.1/ 9 on 4/23/17). Next on NBC was failing “Genius Junior,” hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, at a modest 2.2/ 3 (#3) in the 9 p.m. hour. And that led into sophomore “Timeless” at a 1.5/ 3 at 10 p.m. (#3), which was not worthy of this second season.

Fox was at typical Sunday overnight levels.
