In the specials department on NBC was “The Billboard Music Awards”, which averaged 2.11 million viewers (#3) and a 0.5 rating/4 share in adults 18-49 (#1t) in the Sunday 8-11 p.m. ET block. It led out of an encore telecast of game show “The Weakest Link” at 10 p.m.
CBS granddaddy “60 Minutes” topped the night in total viewers, with 6.99 million at 7 p.m. (and a 0.4/ 4 in adults 18-49 – #2). That led into Sunday 8-11 p.m. dramas “The Equalizer” (Viewers: #1, 6.62 million; A18-49: #2t, 0.5/ 4 at 8 p.m.), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (Viewers: #1, 5.19 million; A18-49: #3, 0.4/ 3 at 9 p.m.) and “S.W.A.T.” (Viewers: #1, 4.00 million; A18-49: #2, 0.4/ 3 at 10 p.m.). All three crime solvers will be returning next season.
On ABC, veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (Viewers: #2, 4.72 million; A18-49: #1, 0.6/ 6 at 7 p.m.) led into “American Idol” at 4.86 million viewers (#2) and a 0.6/ 5 (#1t) from 8-10 p.m. Crime drama “The Rookie” closed the night with 3.46 million viewers (#2) and a 0.3/ 3 in the demo (#3) at 10 p.m. ABC has picked up “The Rookie” spinoff starring Niecy Nash.
Elsewhere, Fox’s Sunday night animation block was off the charts as follows:
