Sunday Ratings: Modest Closing for the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics

NBC: 1.0 rating/8 share, CBS: 0.6/ 4, ABC: 0.3/ 2, Fox: 0.2/ 1, CW: 0.1/ 1

Excluding streaming, the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Summer Olympics on NBC (coupled with Olympic Gold in the Sunday 7 p.m. ET hour) concluded with a lackluster (and approximate) 6.29 million viewers and a 1.1 rating/8 share in adults 18-49 from 7-10:30 p.m. ET. Needless to say, NBC has a long list of makeovers to make good on.

Leading out of the Summer Olympics was the series premiere/preview of game show “Family Game Fight” at an estimated 2.96 million viewers (#1) and a 0.6/ 5 in the demo (#1) at 10:30 p.m.

In competing sports, Sunday Night Baseball on ABC, Chicago Cubs vs. Chicago White Sox, averaged a mere 1.57 million viewers and 0.3/ 2 in the demo in the Sunday 7-10 p.m. ET.

Elsewhere, CBS featured “60 Minutes” (Viewers: #1, 5.82 million; A18-49: #2, 0.4/ 4 at 7 p.m.), “Big Brother” (Viewers: #2, 3.89 million; A18-49: #2, 1.0/ 8 at 8 p.m.) and two hours of “Love Island” (Viewers: #3, 1.66 million; A18-49: #3, 0.4/ 3 from 9-11 p.m.). The CW offered the combination of “D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow” (Viewers: 468,000; A18-49: 0.1/ 1 at 8 p.m.), “Wellington Paranormal” (Viewers: 255,000 at 9 p.m.) and “Dead Pixels” (Viewers: 180,000, A18-49: 0.0), which all finished a distant last in their time periods.
