Tuesday Overnights: ‘The Voice’ Fall Season Ender Leads NBC to Victory

It was an easy Tuesday household overnight victory for NBC, which featured the two-hour fall season finale of “The Voice” at a very dominant 6.7 rating/12 share from 9-11 p.m. ET. Comparably, this was an increase of 10 percent from the 6.1 household rating for the spring season-finale of the singing competition on May 23rd.

Earlier in the evening on NBC was a recap telecast of “The Voice” (translation: repeat) at a 4.8/ 8 (#1) in the 8 p.m. hour.

In the specials department last night was “A Home For the Holidays with Josh Groban” on CBS, featuring more inspirational stories of people whose lives were changed through adoption, at a second-place 3.4/ 5 at 8 p.m. That led into encore telecasts of “NCIS” (#2: 3.4/ 6) and “Bull” (#2: 2.8/ 5) from 9-11 p.m.

On ABC, “The Year: 2017,” featuring a look back at the historic and memorable moments from the year, scored a modest 2.7/ 5 from 9-11 p.m. It led out of repeats of animated “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” (#3: 2.6/ 5) and “Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice” (#3t: 2.0/ 3) from 8-9 p.m.

Elsewhere, Fox and The CW were both in all repeats. Fox featured second-runs of “Lethal Weapon” (#4: 2.0/ 3), “The Mick” (#4: 1.1/ 2) and animated special “Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas” (#4: 1.0/ 2) from 8-10 p.m. And The CW aired 2014 movie “Big Game,” which scored a 0.7/ 1 in the household overnights from 8-10 p.m.

‘Tis the season, of course, for repeats, so get used to that word until after the first of the New Year.
