WGN America Renews ‘Underground’ for Season Two

WGN America has ordered a second season of scripted drama “Underground,” which tells the story of revolutionaries of the Underground Railroad who use their ingenuity, will and power to attempt the greatest escape in history despite the dire consequences that awaited them on the other side. Debuting on March 9, the 10-episode second season order is set to begin production this summer for a 2017 debut.

The current first season of “Underground,” which is outdelivering WGN America’s primetime average this season by +508 percent in total viewers, 864 percent in adults 25-54 and 1005 percent in adults 18-49 (based on Live +7 viewing) will conclude on May 11. Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Tribune Studios, John Legend is one of the executive producers.
