Amazon Orders ‘Fallout’ TV Series Based on the Video Game

Series to Be Made by the Showrunners B ehind HBO's 'Westworld'

Amazon is turning video-game series “Fallout” into a scripted TV series of the same name. The “Fallout” series, which was launched by Interplay Entertainment in 1997 and is now developed by Bethesda Game Studios, takes place in a post-nuclear apocalypse America.

Amazon’s upcoming series will be made by Kilter Films, a production company run by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the showrunners behind HBO’s “Westworld.”

“Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time,” said Joy and Nolan in a statement regarding the announcement. “Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.

“Fallout” is expected to debut on Amazon Prime in 2021.
