ESPN was the outright winner, by far, on New Year’s night with college football’s “Sugar Bowl: Ole Miss vs. Oklahoma State”.

On the negative side, it ranked as the least-watched Sugar Bowl ever (since at least 1999).

Earlier in the day, college football’s Rose Bowl — Stanford vs. Iowa — on ESPN drew 13.6 million viewers, also an historic low for that famed bowl game (since at least 1983).
