Lizzy Weiss, the creator of the Freeform (formerly ABC Family) series “Switched at Birth“, announced on Twitter on Friday, March 11 that its upcoming fifth season — set to air this summer — will be its final season.
This season of #SwitchedatBirth will be our final one. We are ending the show after an amazing 103 episodes with pride, love, and gratitude.

“Switched at Birth” stars Vanessa Marano, Katie Leclerc, Lea Thompson and Constance Marie. The series has received praise for its depiction of the hearing-impaired community through Leclerc’s character Daphne.
The drama debuted on June 6, 2011 to 3.3 million viewers and 1.7 million adults 18-49 for its initial telecast, according to Nielsen Live plus Same Day data, marking it as the most-watched ABC Family/Freeform series debut to-date. Its most recent episode — the fourth season finale on Oct. 26, 2015 — drew 836,000 viewers and 472,000 adults 18-49 in Live plus Same Day; 1.399 million viewers and 830,000 adults 18-49 in Live plus 7-Day.
