Note: the following fast affiliate results for any of the live events mentioned in this article are all approximate

Fox easily won its second consecutive Saturday due to baseball; on this night, it was Game 2 of the 2022 MLB World Series (Houston Astros 5, Philadelphia Phillies 2). Its half-hours were:

8:00 — Viewers: 8.01 million, A18-49: 1.5/14
8:30 — Viewers: 7.84 million, A18-49: 1.6/14
9:00 — Viewers: 8.13 million, A18-49: 1.7/15
9:30 — Viewers: 8.64 million, A18-49: 1.8/16
10:00 — Viewers: 8.54 million, A18-49: 1.7/16
10:30 — Viewers: 8.54 million, A18-49: 1.8/17

Upon comparing the respective fast affiliates for the Fox network from 8-11 p.m. last year, it was down 5 percent in viewers and down 6 percent in demo from Game 2 (Braves-Astros, which was played on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021); relatively flat in viewers and up 6 percent in adults 18-49 from Game 4 (Astros-Braves, from Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021);

With the Series even 1-1, there will definitely be a fifth game on Wednesday, Nov. 2.

ABC was a decent runner-up with the college football battle of the state of Michigan on “Saturday Night Football”. (Michigan routed Michigan State 29-7). Its half-hours were:

8:00 — Viewers: 4.90 million, A18-49: 1.1/10
8:30 — Viewers: 5.28 million, A18-49: 1.2/10
9:00 — Viewers: 5.03 million, A18-49: 1.1/10
9:30 — Viewers: 4.92 million, A18-49: 1.1/10
10:00 — Viewers: 4.61 million, A18-49: 1.1/10
10:30 — Viewers: 4.01 million, A18-49: 0.9/ 9

NBC, although in repeats, placed third for the night in each key figure.

CBS also featured sports. For the first time, the NWSL Soccer Championship (Viewers: #4, 793,000; A18-49: #3t, 0.2/ 2 from 8-10:30 p.m.) was televised to a nationwide audience on a broadcast network. (Congratulations to Portland Thorns FC, winning 2-0 over the Kansas City Current at Audi Field in Washington, DC).

The CW aired an original edition of “Criss Angel’s Magic with the Stars” (Viewers: #5, 326,000; A18-49: #5, 0.0/ 0 from 8-9 p.m.), followed by a new episode of “World.’s Funniest Animals” at 9 p.m. (Viewers: #5, 398,000; A18-49: #5, 0.0/ 0) and a rerun at 9:30 p.m. (Viewers: #5, 406,000; A18-49: #5, 0.0/ 0).

Although their fast affiliate figures were not yet available at post time, it is projected that ESPN (with the SEC football game of Kentucky at Tennessee) and Hallmark Channel (already celebrating the holiday season with the telefilm “Jolly Good Christmas ”) to all be at least in the competitive mix and among the leading networks in prime time.
